Bluestones Manufacturing Solutions were very proud to have supported Claire House Children’s Hospice this January.
Bluestones Manufacturing Solutions supported Claire House Children’s Hospice by volunteering their time in the charity’s Wirral distribution centre and sorting through over £10,000 worth of stock.
Claire House Children’s Hospice helps seriously and terminally ill children and their families by providing specialist nursing care and emotional support and rely on donations from the public to ensure they can continue supporting those who need it. Claire House has 26 charity shops across the North West and North Wales and receives goods like toys, clothes and homewares which are sorted by volunteers at the charity’s distribution centre in Birkenhead. All sorted donations are then sent to the Claire House charity shops for sale.
The team from Bluestones MS spent the day sorting through public donations and organising the donations into standard, discount and shop direct stock, including books and stock for recycling. Over the day, the team sorted over 215 bags of stock which have the potential value of over £10,000. For the charity, this could pay for an annual memory day for bereaved families which costs around £8,000 or to support a family with a counselling team which costs £3,515 a week.
Greg Fields, Managing Director, said, “We are always looking for ways that we can use our skills in quality control and inspection services to support local charities. These skills are well suited to an environment like the Claire House distribution centre. We couldn’t think of a better charity to support – the work they do and the support they provide for children and their families is exceptional.”
The Bluestones Manufacturing Solutions team are now using their skills in lean and continuous improvement to recommend positive changes to the processes used by the Claire House distribution centre team, to allow them to become even more efficient and raise even more money for Claire House families.
